"SingSpire Chorus": formed in February 2015. A friendly community choir for all voices, welcoming both men and women! We enjoy our singing, music, meeting and making new friends in a 'fun friendly atmosphere'!
Tuesday evenings 7.00 - 9.00pm Thursday afternoon 1.00pm - 2.15pm Anglican Church Hall Currie St Nambour (next to Ampol Service Station and Nambour Police Station) The only requirement to join us is 'a love of singing'! We are very community minded and love to share our singing, which we have done in Buderim Forest Park, Maroochy Botanical Gardens, Coolum Christian College, Memorial Services, Christmas Concerts, Singing on World Peace Day, singing in Shopping Plazas, Fashion Parades and Retirement Resorts, Aged Care Centres. Our rehearsals always end on a 'high' and we go home feeling very uplifted and refreshed! We are in membership with the Australian National Choral Association. Performances: We are all about 'community' and so we love to present an annual Concert to raise funds for various local charities. We are very interested in singing at community events and functions, Retirement Resorts, Christmas Events, as well as Ceremonies and Private Events. Please go to our Contact Page to request a booking.
Our Repertoire: We sing songs in unison, three and four part harmony. Some of our songs are a cappella, while others have an accompaniment. Our repertoire is from a vast range of genre from folk, Australian, Gospel, pop, musicals to traditional. We aim to always bring an uplifting, inspirational message through our song and music. Music Director & Founder:
Helen Owens....Helen's career in music began at an early age in learning piano and singing with Wallace Carroll. She continued her studies in music at the Conservatorium of Music Newcastle NSW majoring in piano. A.MUS.A She taught music in High School in NSW, where her involvement with choirs began in training both the senior and junior choir. Singing has been a big part of her life not only in schools but also as music director in churches where she headed up both the vocal and instrumental sections. After moving to the Sunshine Coast she trained the Australian Youth Choir on the coast for many years; also the Sing Australia Group. She teaches both piano and singing privately, and uses her skills on the piano in accompanying instrumentalists and choirs. Her love and joy is music, and she is very excited about the prospects of 'SingSpire Chorus'. Helen has a great sense of humour, provides a very happy atmosphere in which she teaches and trains the members new skills that bring much satisfaction.
